First founded in 1943, this enduring west end studio is Canada’s oldest boxing and wrestling club. Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis and Muhammad Ali have all stepped foot inside the legendary ring. The gym trains high-ranking professional heavyweights and also offers a variety of amateur fitness and boxing classes for men, women and children (ages seven and up). The bare bones studio might not have change rooms or air conditioning, but it has plenty of heart and history.

The two-level boxing and fitness centre maintains its authentic old-world feel while providing state-of-the-art equipment to help members reach their goals. Rows of heavy bags hang from the ceiling and a large boxing ring occupies the upstairs space; red and blue ring was transported from its original location in New York’s Times Square location, where it was graced by the likes of Mohammed Ali and Rocky Marcia. Canada’s first all-female and trans-positive boxing club has been kicking butt in Leslieville since 2006. Head coach Savoy "Kapow" Howe oversees the gym’s various boxing programs, which include introductory classes, one-on-one coaching sessions, early morning boot camps, and a free "Shape Your Life" program for survivors of physical violence. The intense two-hour classes lead participants through cardio drills and boxing techniques using hand pads and heavy bags. The encouraging instructors and inclusive atmosphere will have you fighting like a girl in no time.

Serious athletes can purchase headgear, shoes, competition robes and hand wraps through the club at a discounted rate.
